A Woman's Art

Just a few notes, brain storming about being a woman artist. Someone asked me recently how I managed to do my artwork, how could I live without structures and deadlines. I answered that my grandmother used to knit and crochet and this is how I do some of my artwork. I carry it around and do it, weave it in between the interstices of my daily life, I do it watching TV with my family, I do it having a cup of tea with my daughter, I do it sitting on my bed while my husband is brushing his teeth in the bathroom, or reading next to me. I do it while having a Sunday brunch and talking and joking with my two children. I do it alone in public places while enjoying the energy of the people around me. All I need is a silver pen and a notebook of black paper, the devices that replaced the spool of wool/thread and the knitting/crocheting needles, and like an expert knitter, I do it without "thinking"...just like a woman.
