Vineyards are not only the graphic structures against the backdrop of colourful patches of paint, but also ample connotations that immediately spring to mind. They are a theme which is both visually attractive and pregnant in meaning. And this is precisely what the most recent paintings by Małgorzata Andrzejewska are; one can find here drawing and painting, a thicket of lines and vibrant colours and one cannot resist the temptation of associations. Vineyards, wine, aroma, flavour, the taste of life...

The artist has travelled across Europe, becoming conversant with the wine trail, visiting the places where the most exquisite wines are made. The banks of the River Rhine in Germany, France, and Italy – in Andrzejewska’s oeuvre one may discover the traces of the many journeys that are the principal source of her inspiration. The admiration of texture, of the interplay of space, the mesmerising juxtapositions and overlapping of colours, all characteristic features of her painting, can be found in this suite of paintings, too. The tangle of disordered lines next to the order of rock forms is fascinating for the painter since it brings about not only an aesthetic experience but bespeaks of the whole sensual joy of life associated with wine and by extension with the space it is born in. The artist admits that painting is a most enjoyable experience for her, but vigilant viewers will notice it themselves. The colourful paintings portraying vineyards, vine bushes swathed in nets and enveloped in blue show a joyful play with colour.

Andrzejewska seeks a precise expression of an impression, a repetition of the wonder of nature, but she effects this through a similar extent of saturation with colour and the juxtaposition of contrasts rather than by simple imitation or copying the landscape. That
is why the subject matter and the connotations it evokes are of special significance. The painting begins on canvas and does not transcend it. A canvas is a selected still, and thus is only a small part. It is but a starting point for spinning a varicoloured story about vineyards in different seasons of the year. They seem to burst the boundaries of paintings and to escape the frames. Hence the cycles, big formats, and diptychs, since the element resists closure or being harnessed, if you will. The artist’s task is to circumscribe it. Małgorzata Andrzejewska accepts this task and performs it effortlessly, it seems, joyfully searching for a manner of representing the world she has seen and become enraptured by.

Weinberge sind nicht nur graphische Strukturen vor dem Hintergrund von Farbflecken, sondern  augenblicklich entstehende weitreichende Konnotationen. Es ist ein visuell effektvolles Thema, dass jedoch auch Bedeutung in sich birgt. Und so sind auch die neuesten Arbeiten von Małgorzata Andrzejewska, in ihnen kann man Zeichnung und Malerei, ein Wirrwarr von Strichen, finden, aber auch Vibrationen von Farben, und es fällt schwer, sich den vielfältigen Assoziationen zu entziehen, die sie wecken. Weinberge, Wein, Aroma, Geschmack am Leben … 

Die Künstlerin ist quer durch Europa gereist, hat Weinstraßen kennen gelernt und sich Orte angesehen,wo der edelsteTrunk geboren wird – das deutsche Rheintal, Frankreich und Italien. Im künstlerischen Schaffen von Andrzejewska kann man Spuren zahlreicher
Wanderungen wiederfinden, die die Hauptinspirationsquelle der Bilder darstellen. Die für ihre Malerei so charakteristische Begeisterung für die Bildoberfläche, das Spiel mit dem Raum, die hypnotische Zusammenstellung der Farben und ihr gegenseitiges Durchdringen ist auch in diesem Bilderzyklus gegenwärtig. Das wirre Geflecht der Linien in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft der Felsblöcke fasziniert die Malerin, denn dies verwandelt sich nicht nur in ästhetische Wahrnehmung, sondern birgt die Fülle sinnlicher Lebensfreude in sich, welche der Gedanke an den Wein wachruft und somit auch der Raum, wo er entsteht. Die Künstlerin bekennt, dass das Malen ihr Vergnügen bereitet, was dem aufmerksamen Betrachter nicht verborgen bleiben kann.
Auf den farbenfrohen Bildern, die Weinberge, von Netzen umhüllte, in Blau getauchte Sträucher darstellen, lässt sich lebensfrohes Farbenspiel spüren.

Andrzejewska strebt eine präzise Wiedergabe von Eindrücken, ein Aufgreifen der Wunder der Natur an, aber durch einen ähnlichen Grad an Farbsättigung und entsprechende Farbkontraste, und nicht durch ein einfaches Imitieren oder Kopieren von Landschaften.
Daher ist auch das Thema und die mit ihm verbundenen Konnotationen von ausgesprochener Wichtigkeit. Das Bild beginnt auf der Leinwand, greift jedoch über diese hinaus. Die Leinwand ist ein gewählter Bildausschnitt und somit ein Teilstück, kaum mehr als ein Ausgangspunkt, um farbenfrohe Erzählungen über Weinberge zu verschiedenen Jahreszeiten weiterzuspinnen. Diese scheinen über die Bilder hinaus zu reichen und dem Eingeschlossensein zu entgehen. Daher die Zyklen, die großen Bildformate, das Dyptichon. Das Elementare lässt sich nicht einschließen oder, wenn man so will, zähmen. Es zu erfassen, ist die Aufgabe des Künstlers. Małgorzata Andrzejewska nimmt diese Mühe auf sich, jedoch nicht im Sinne einer Anstrengung, sondern eines frohen Suchens nach einer Darstellungsweise der Welt, die sie begeistert und inspiriert.

La vigne n’est pas simplement une structure graphique sur fond de taches de peinture colorées. Elle comporte également une ample palette de connotations qui sautent immédiatement aux yeux. Il s’agit d’un thème visuellement attrayant et chargé de sens. Et c’est précisément ce que représentent les derniers tableaux de Małgorzata Andrzejewska. L’un y verra du dessin et de la peinture, un buisson de lignes et de couleurs vibrantes, l’autre ne pourra résister à la tentation d’y associer vigne, vin, arômes, saveurs, goût de la vie…

L’artiste a voyagé à travers l’Europe, acquérant des connaissances le long des sentiers vignerons et visitant les régions dans lesquelles les vins les plus exquis sont produits. Les bords du Rhin, l’Allemagne, la France et l’Italie – on peut suivre, dans l’œuvre d’Andrzejewska, l’itinéraire de ses nombreux voyages qui sont sa principale source d’inspiration. La fascination pour la texture, pour l’interaction avec l’espace, les juxtapositions surprenantes et le chevauchement de couleurs, constituent les traits caractéristiques de son art et se retrouvent dans cette série de tableaux. Cet enchevêtrement de lignes désordonnées mis en parallèle avec des formes vallonnées harmonieuses fascine le peintre puisqu’il n’apporte pas simplement une touche esthétique mais témoigne de la joie de vivre et de la sensualité qui sont associées au vin et, de fait, à la terre d’où il naît. L’artiste affirme que la peinture est une expérience très divertissante pour elle, des spectateurs attentifs s’en rendront compte par eux-mêmes. Le jeu harmonieux des couleurs se retrouve à travers les tableaux colorés dépeignant des vignobles et des vignes entrelacées et enveloppées de bleu.

Andrzejewska recherche l’expression précise d’une impression, une reproduction du miracle de la nature, qu’elle réalise toutefois à travers une saturation intense de couleurs et la juxtaposition de contrastes, et non par une simple imitation ou reproduction du paysage. C’est pourquoi l’intérêt du sujet et les connotations qu’il évoque ont une signification spécifique. L’artiste commence son œuvre sur la toile mais son travail va au-delà. La toile constitue le support, elle ne représente pour cela qu’une partie infime de l’œuvre. Elle est néanmoins le point de départ du tissage d’une histoire hautement colorée sur la vigne au cours des différentes saisons de l’année. La vigne semble repousser les limites de la toile et sortir des cadres. De là découle le choix des cycles, des grands formats et des diptyques, puisque l’élément résiste à l’enfermement et à l’harnachement. La tâche de l’artiste est d’en suggérer les contours. Małgorzata Andrzejewska l’assume pleinement, avec facilité, semble-t-il, en cherchant avec passion une manière de représenter le monde qu’elle a découvert et qui l’a fascinée.
