Lower & upper blepharoplasty eye rejuvenation treatment Melbourne
by   chilllamb79

Once scars have matured—which can take up to 2 years—you can expect their obviousness to reduce significantly. Infection can negatively affect the results asian nose rhinoplasty of surgery in the unlikely event it happens. Because of the superior healing qualities of the face, infection after blepharoplasty is uncommon.
We offer a range of surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatment options to combat the signs of ageing and loss of skin elasticity. We also offer surgical procedures and non-surgical treatments to reduce excess skin and loose skin on the face and neck area. These include blepharoplasty, upper eyelid ptosis corrections, forehead and brow lift, traditional facelift, suture lift, dermal fillers and laser skin resurfacing. Please note, if your surgical procedure is purely cosmetic, it generally does not qualify for Medicare rebates. Blepharoplasty is usually performed as day surgery and can take one to two hours to complete. It is a cosmetic surgical procedure, which removes excess fat, skin and muscle on the lower and upper eyelids to rejuvenate the area around the eyes.

Your surgeon will prescribe medication to help alleviate these symptoms. Excess skin of the eyelids is removed through incisions or cuts in the upper and lower eyelids as well as adjustments made to the underlying tissue of the upper and lower eyelids. It is also possible for scarring around your eyelids to result in tightness and tethering. If tightness does occur in the early stages of healing this can result in a widening of the eye or slight turning out of the eyelid, known as ectropion.
Artificial tears can help provide temporary relief from dryness but some patients require surgical eyelid repositioning, which may involve a skin graft from the upper eyelid. Recovery from this surgery is either 2 weeks if simple repositioning is performed or weeks if a skin graft is required. Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a type of surgery that alters the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both. The aim is to improve the appearance of the area surrounding the eyes and to improve vision obscured by drooping eyelids.
There are also patients who suffer from ptosis or experience an obstructed visual field due to the accumulation of fat and excess skin in the upper eyelid. Naturally, these patients are also excellent candidates for eyelid surgery. Dr Natalie Ngan is a highly skilled and experienced eyelid surgeon in Melbourne who offers a range of surgical and non-surgical treatments to help her patients achieve the best possible results.

This condition can be rectified through steroid injections, but can be avoided altogether if your surgeon is conservative during surgery on the lower eyelid. Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery is a surgical procedure. If excess skin is minimal, it is sometimes possible to perform the lower lid surgery without external scars, a procedure known as ‘Transconjuctival Blepharoplasty’. This allows for contouring of the lower eyelids and circles under the eyes, without leaving external scars. It can be accompanied by resurfacing of the lower eyelid by using either a chemical peel or laser.
This excess skin forms folds which gravity pulls downwards to produce the effect of hooding. Sometimes this extra skin actually comes to rest on the bases of the eyelashes at the margin of the eyelid. The lower eyelid skin becomes stretched by the fat behind it, causing the appearance of bags.

If this does occur, it should resolve by six weeks after surgery and can be helped by regular massage. Eyelid surgery healing and recovery continue for some time after surgery. No person’s eyelids are perfectly symmetrical either before and after eyelid surgery. Many patients seek blepharoplasty early to prevent premature ageing caused by hooded and drooping eyelids. Dr Kristian Sorensen is a leading plastic surgeon for Blepharoplasty surgery in Melbourne and Cairns helping patients seeking better vision, as well as, younger and more attractive eyes. With over 20 years of experience, he is a calm, caring and precise surgeon.
You may consider reconstructive eyelid surgery if you have had trauma, sun damage, skin cancers or have excess skin on the upper eyelid that obstructs your vision. Where excess upper eyelid tissue is present, you may be suitable for removal of the excessive tissue in an operation called a blepharoplasty. The RPS surgeons will assess you for conditions that might impact the success of this surgery and determine an appropriate management plan. In the procedure the herniated periorbital fat is removed or repositioned, tightening the supporting tissues below the eyelid skin.
Eye contact is always meaningful and the eyes are powerfull tools of communication. It is needless to say how unique each one’s eyes are, and that they should be carefully assessed in the context of one’s face. Lower blepharoplasty is to correct the dark shadows and hollowing under the eyes in the “tear-trough” area and to flatten out puffiness and wrinkles under the eyes. Dermal filler treatments will usually last between 6 and 9 months before gradually fading away. A lower blepharoplasty can be performed to treat unsightly bags underneath the eye. Excessively blinking can increase inflammation; therefore, patients need to avoid doing this.

It can also affect your vision and cause the eyelashes to be hidden under the skin, making you look older than you are. The medical term for this is epiphora, the overflow of tears from the eye not due to an emotional response such as crying. Many people will experience unexpected watery eyes at more than one point in their life, often due to a temporary irritation such as allergy or a foreign body flying into the eye. For some patients, constant tearing or watering from one or both eyes can be a source of significant annoyance or embarrassment. There are no other medical alternatives to blepharoplasty that can reposition or reshape the eyelids.
If a patient desires, the surgeon can also strategically trim fat and muscle away to enhance the shape of his or her eyes. With an external incision, the cosmetic surgeon can access all the tissues of the eye. Can deepen the patient’s lid crease by removing a strip of the muscle surrounding the eyelid (i.e., orbicularis oculi muscle). A cosmetic blepharoplasty concentrates solely on improving the appearance of the eyes. Some procedures may have minimal downtime, while others may require several weeks or months of recovery.
At the first visit, Dr Pakrou will examine and assess the health of your eyes and eyelids and discuss the functional/cosmetic goals. He will provide education and information about the areas of concerns and explore potential procedures and surgical options. Ptosis refers to droopy eyelids, as opposed to excess skin hanging down. However, ptosis and sagging skin from above the eyelid can coexist.
