"Ruralidades" An innovative concept in art showcasing

Contemporary expressions of plastic arts, exhibitions, classical music concerts, a master class in piano and workshops on cartoos and sculpture, are more than suficient reason for a cultural visit to a rural setting.

"Ruralities" appels to a concept that looks upon art as work constantly changes and evolves in an ongoing experimentalism, taking comtemporary art back to its roots in "The Rural Setting". Alcalar is a historical site whose archaeological finds bear witness to forms of artistic expression; the contemporary, multi-faceted artists participating in the event use a variety of expressive forms encompassing free styles, from the figurative to the abstract, painting, sculpture and etching, and share a common love of creativity, divulging and educating for the arts, thus bringing greater weight to the "ruralities" experience.

With the participation of: Arlindo Arez, Franco Charais, Stela Barreto, Vila, Fernando D'F. Pereira, Martins Leal, Maureen Lucía Booth, Vesna Pantelic, Joana Florêncio, Fernando Veloso, Paulo Quaresma and Ana Bernardino.

V. International Symposium of Sculpture 2007

Fifth International Symposium of Sculpture 2007

Following a two year interval, The Fifth International Symposium of Sculpture
2007 is being held in the Algarvian city of Portimão.
This project was first held in 2000 by the sculptor Arlindo Arez. With his long
experience in international symposiums, Mr. Arez is delighted to bring once
again this event to home place.
With their work, 18 sculptors, from 10 different nationalities marked the
previous symposiums held in Alvor in 2000, 2001, 2003 and in Portimão in 2004.
Names such as the Italian Emanuela Camacci, Urs Koller from Switzerland, the
Bulgarian sculptor Radoslav Sultov, the German Uli Shwander ou Assem Al from
Syria, are in the former symposiums curricula.
The main orienting goal of this sculptural workshop is to promote a different
contact between the general public and sculpture, spread this art form and
advance young values by acknowledging the importance of sculpture as an art
expression. It also intends to promote a cultural exchange, and the interchange
of experiences and knowledge among artists.
Fifth International Symposium of Sculpture, will take place in Portimão, from
20th of May to 3rd June 2007, and it's an organized event by the recently
created Cuneo-Sularte Associação Cultural, which has as its main goal the
organization of this event and, in the future, other cultural events integrated
in the various artistic domains.
