There was a moment in my time in Chicago, language changed into visual language. Words into pictures. The possibilities of photography intrigued me. I participated in my first class “The digital tool for artists” at the SAIC (School of the Art Institute Chicago) to learn as much as I could about digital art. The combination of several art techniques - the traditional and digital - became my medium. The creative process is a kind of dialogue between myself - what I am looking at and the medium.
Photography: My photographs are always a result of an accumulation of facts and influences. I choose a place to work on, I observe life around me, I like to dive in environments watching, listening and feeling …I sit and watch and observe. Then I act. I don’t plan my direction. The direction comes with the situation, respecting technical constraints or violating them, it is pure intuition … this avoids repeating results and keeps me fresh.
Image creation: The photograph is only the beginning of my process. I focus on post production. The image is the source, but a large part of the work is done by integrating other medias into the process – it’s experimentation, it’s composition – a creation , deteriorisation/degradation, destruction in order to recreate or create from scratch on a new image. My material is paint and all media used in painting but especially the digital tool. … I push the spectator to perceive the picture in a different way as usual. The ordinary scene becomes extraordinary. Color & composition are critical.
