Statement My practice is diverse and hybrid. I move between various mediums such as live and video performances, site-specific installations with found objects and personal materials, collages, drawings, photography. My work revolves around topics of dislocation and displacement, migration, the aftermath of political regimes and stamps of these systems on human identities. Bio I am currently residing in Melbourne, Australia, but will be re-locating to New York, USA this March, where I will be staying for the next 6 months, as a recipient of Prestigious Freedman Travelling Scholarship for Emerging Artists (National Association of Visual Artists, Sydney, Australia). Originally, I came to Australia from the city of Odessa, Ukraine (former USSR), in 1992, with my family. In Odessa, I went to a children's art school and received a diploma of fine arts at 14 years of age. After coming to Melbourne, I took up private art classes, and then proceeded to complete my first degree in Fashion Design (Honours) at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1999, after which I worked in Fashion industry and then re-located to London for two years. After traveling across Europe and attempting an MA in Fashion at St Martins College of Art and Design, I quit Fashion for good and came back to Australia to pursue true passion, visual art. I recently graduated form my second degree in Fine Arts at Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne, where I received numerous awards and have become an active participant in exhibitions and events, whilst working part time as an invigilator of gallery spaces at Australian Centre for Contemporary Arts throughout my degree.
