Jerome L. Vaden

Jerome L. Vaden is a watercolor artist; collectors of his paintings are worldwide. Jerome was born June 3, 1954; he is a native of Denver, Colorado. Jerome is a self-taught artist. He has never received any formal training; he began drawing at the age of six. His early work was strictly pen & ink. However, on the advice of an art critic covering an art show where his work appeared, the advice to Jerome was to transcend his work from P&I to color. He began exploring with oils, acrylics, tempera, pastels, and finally watercolor, he fell in love with watercolor. Practically anyone that has seen his paintings says he has a gift. He participated in the Cherry Creek Arts Festival for the first three years. In 1991, The Artist Magazine, a national publication chose Jerome from 15,000 entries as the one of the top 200 in an art competition of portraits, he entered a painting titled Miles.

In 1992, he exhibited his paintings in a one-man 30-day art exhibit at the Town Hall of Littleton. This particular exhibit spun two great articles, one in The Rocky Mountain News, titled Artist’s clarity defies watercolor genre in January 1993 and another in The Christian Science Monitor, titled Precision in a Watercolor World in March 1993. Other articles appeared in the Rocky Mountain News Spotlight section in Dec. 1992, and Sept. 1994 referencing our art gallery. Jerome created the original playbill for It Ain’t Nothin But The Blues, the worldwide premiere debuted at the Denver Performing Arts Theatre in March 1995. In 1998, this play received a nomination for a Tony Award.

Jerome and his wife, Deloise owned and operated an art gallery, Visions Beyond Our Time Fine Art Gallery in Aurora, CO from 1990-1997. In 1997, Jerome received an Artists' in Residence from a Colorado art supply company to teach watercolor in Paris, France. It was a 5-year commitment. He created a website jlvadenart.com to boost sales of his paintings. Over the years, several other art galleries have sold Jerome’s paintings as well as J. C. Penney.

Most recently, in February 2005 his exhibited his artwork in New York City at the Agora Galleries. In 2006, he participated in an art exhibit in the concourses of DIA. The exhibition titled "The Soul of Colorado". In 2008, Colorado Community Church exhibited 30 pieces of his work, a 90-day exhibit. In August 2009, he placed 8 paintings at The Vaden Law Firm. The art is on loan for a year.

Jerome extends his art instruction to private lessons, the City of Aurora, Boys & Girls Club of Denver and CCC Fine Art School.
