THE CRAZY SHOW 2010

The “Crazy” show is meant to be a studio for artists to explore their limits and expand their horizons.

We are asking artists to take a leap of faith and jump into a Dionysian state of mind where logic and imagination are unbound. In our usual Cultureinside complicated dual-level manner - and we apologize, we are just complicated people   - we offer this online exhibition as an exercise and an opportunity to create work that is outside the box.

Each work submitted for the exhibition should be an example of a radical shift, a juxtaposition of opposites, counter-intuitive, changes in paradigms, a break in logic, or an unusual combination of materials, media, color, or ideas.

Work can be sensationalistic, although extreme horror or sexual content are not encouraged. We are looking for work that is “good” crazy, crazy like a fox, as opposed to art that depicts evil, destructive, or violent behavior.

We believe that those kinds of images are often depicted in popular culture and therefore have become cliche, an obvious move, often based on the fear of loss of control and the underlying violence in society. There are many examples of this better kind of strangeness in art, science, or literature. both in mainstream art, alternative modern, outsider art or art of native cultures that can be considered crazy. If you need inspiration, we might begin a list of interesting examples that can be accessed. Work can be done in any media but we can only accept jpegs for the exhibition.

We want this exhibition to be enjoyable, experimental, and thought-provoking for artists and viewers alike.
