Cindy Wider
My art is strongly influenced by my early childhood years having grown up on an island above Australia; the second largest island in the world called Papua New Guinea. With little access to technology and hardly any toys, nature was my playground. It was a very fertile ground for my imagination to develop and a deep sense of gratitude and awe for nature has lived within me ever since. Through my bright bold tropical artworks I relive my happy and wonder-filled childhood fantasies forever and ever....
I was short-listed for the Wayne Kratzmann Art Award in 2011 and my artwork was included in ‘Connection’ a touring exhibition of the 2011 Queensland Regional Art Awards. This exhibition was curated by Michele Helmrich (Senior Curator, University of Queensland Art Museum) and was shown at the State Library of Queensland in 2012.
I am also an author of art education books and manuals and have written four soft cover books as well as 37 E-books which form the ‘Complete Drawing and Painting Certificate Course’presented at my education website drawpj.com
