The Silo - A new art scene is born in Saarbrücken!

What could be more contemporary than the creation and development of the ART SILO in Saarbrücken, a highlight for all art interested and this at a place not at all glamorous!  Art created at the source, art created without sources ! An art project not developed in the heads of cultural officials. Some artists are building a creative community at a wonderful historic place the “Römerkastell”, 2000 years of nearly forgotten history could be revived, the public already lived in June and September how enriching artistically the shores of the Saar River can be. So the creative community is going on in 2008 and plans several big events and happenings in and around the silo. Remembering the history of the place fading and nearly forgotten today, is subject of one of the upcoming art projects by using the area around the silo and the 9-floor high silo tower itself. This area captures the visitor, there is plenty of expression, emotion and personality. As in summer and autumn 2007 lectures, peformances, concerts and art shows will be organized to bring new current trends and new contemporary art from the base to the visitor. The silo-café takes care of the music’s expressions…and let's hope that a lot of art shows will go on. Having seen the fascination of the public it should continue, having seen the creativity, energy and enthousiasm of the emerging artists it should continue. But it would be great to get further support.
