Makoto Hatori - Expanding the Tradition   Technique Mixte, Sculpture

When we talk about the present, standing within the constant flow of time, going up against the stream is not the same as going back to the headwaters, if tradition is made up of an interweave and entanglement of time and people, the external and internal. Tradition keeps changing constantly. Tradition --- is not something that supports the past and reaches the present. Tradition supports the present and opens the way to the future.
