Kurt Piazza was born in Florida in 1972. He works in various media including painting, video, installation, drawing and photography. Piazza’s large-scale paintings examine the arrangements of color, gesture and form. His video work explores themes of fluctuating perception and shifting audio resonances. The artist’s recent installation projects combine the notions of voyeurism, perception and performance conveyed through a minimalist aesthetic. Piazza’s drawings focus on repetitive and fixated mark-making through minimal line and shape, and his photography centers on architectural space and perspective. Kurt Piazza received a Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media from the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida, 2004. Past exhibitions include Pride and Prejudice, Tampa Museum of Art, 2008, Ocean View, Art Basel Miami Beach,2007, The Fusion of Art and Technology, California State University at Fresno, 2006. Piazza is currently working on a series of large-scale dot matrix prints that explore the notions of repetition and re-contextualization.
